For the month of October, FUMC will participate in this nationwide movement launched by Resurrection, a United Methodist Church in the Kansas City area, to encourage people to be intentional about treating one another with kindness, overcoming the polarization in our country through civility and respect. Our sermon series will reaffirm our commitment that no matter what happens between now and November 5 (or after), we will follow Jesus and treat others as we want them to treat us – including those with whom we disagree. No matter what – kindness. No matter what – humility. No matter what – respect. No matter what – love.

Are we “grounded” in our faith? Do our actions come from a level playing field? The root word of humility would suggest it be so for humus literally means on the ground. Let’s consider how being humble will assist in our journey to Do Unto Others.
