First United Methodist Church of Ann Arbor is sponsoring a community learning event this fall. Join us to read, study and discuss together Dr. Tiya Miles’ new book, Night Flyer: HarrietTubman and the Faith Dreams of a Free People – on Nov. 10 from 1:30-3 p.m. in the Ann Arbor District Library Downtown Branch (multi-prupose room).

And then, come and meet the author, Dr. Tiya Miles, who will be visiting Ann Arbor on Nov. 17 from 2-4 p.m. for an afternoon of conversation, questions, answers and refreshments at First United Methodist Church of Ann Arbor (social hall), 120 S. State Street, Ann Arbor. Childcare will be available.

Dr. Miles is the Michael Garvey Professor of History at Harvard University, and before moving to Harvard, spent 16 at the University of Michigan. She is the author of five prizewinning works on the history of slavery and early American race relations. We are extremely fortunate to have her visit!
