Love Thy Neighbor
Supporting the Ann Arbor Community for 15 Years
Love Thy Neighbor (LTN) started in 2008 as an outreach of First United Methodist Church of Ann Arbor to meet the need for meals among hungry people in Ann Arbor. Every morning, 52 weeks a year, LTN provides non-perishable food to the food-insecure guests of the St. Andrew’s Breakfast Program.
To-go bags of food
LTN started off by handing out peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and then changed to having a table with canned goods and snacks that people could take. After COVID, LTN shifted to what it does today, packing to-go bags of food. These bags include non-perishable, pop-top ready-to-eat canned foods, snacks and nutrition drinks. LTN distributes about 400 bags a month.
Get involved
There are a few ways to get involved with LTN. Volunteers are needed to pack to-go bags on the first and third Saturday of each month; drivers are needed to pick up food orders at Sam’s Club; and donations are needed to support the program. Since LTN is not supported by FUMC’s budget, they rely on both monetary and food donations to support the program. If you’d like to get involved with LTN, email info@fumc-a2.org.
