“Here. Now.” should be a familiar phrase by now!
Banners are suspended from our church, announcing to all who pass, that at this point in time, in this place, we take the mandate of Christ seriously. It declares that here at First United Methodist Church, we seek to share our faith and our resources with community and world. Ministry begins here and spreads outward in response to human need. Here we receive inspiration, call, and our commission. It happens here, in this place.
We are surrounded by mission and ministry opportunities. We aren’t waiting for “things to get better”; hunger and homelessness take no vacation. Our children need to be nurtured in the faith, now. Worship needs to be vital and relevant now.We offer pastoral support in need of spiritual support, now. Mission outreach, our response to suffering and injustice, calls for action at this time.
We ask that in the year of “Here. Now.” you consider making a pledge. It is not a lifetime commitment! It is, however, an important affirmation of your intent to be an active participant in the 2010 church ministry. We are confident that you will be blessed by your giving. We are grateful that you are loyal in so many ways and pray that you will consider taking this step in faith.
Through our gifts to the church, we invest in God’s vision and purpose and create an opportunity for God to work through us. Our gifts to God represent an act of worship. Your gifts provide for the nurture of souls, young and old, and for the proclamation of the Good News of Jesus Christ. We celebrate our opportunity to continue this important work.
